Join ORE for a hands-on experience in making oyster rag pots (ORPs) using cotton rags and cement. These ORPs are placed in targeted areas of the Manatee River to rebuild oyster reefs, which naturally filter water and enhance local habitat. Check our events calendar for any scheduled ORP making events, or reach out to us if you have a group that is interested! These events are great for anyone ages 15 and up, willing to get their hands dirty and play a direct role in oyster restoration.
Join ORE in protecting local ecosystems by removing invasive plant species and replanting native ones. By controlling invasive species, we help restore ecological balance, improve biodiversity, and support the long-term health of natural areas. We work to plant native species that promote a healthy, resilient environment. We provide the right tools and volunteer training to get the big jobs DONE. Everyone leaves with a great sense of accomplishment!
We strive to keep our calendar packed with engaging, hands-on opportunities to learn about ecological restoration—whether it's installing native plants, building oyster habitat, or anything in between. These events are perfect for social clubs, college groups, corporate teams, and anyone eager to make a meaningful impact through teamwork and restoration in action. If you would like to discuss a group project, please reach out to ORE's Executive Director, Damon Moore, by email.
